The First Vice President of the Government and Minister of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation, Nadia Calviño, makes the Honorable Opening speech of the III EXPANSION INTERNATIONAL FORUM.
“Spain will be the European economy with the most intense growth in 2022 and 2023”, defended this Wednesday the First Vice President of the Government and Minister of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation, Nadia Calviño, during her Honorable Opening speech of the III EXPANSION INTERNATIONAL FORUM, organized in collaboration with the international think tank The European House Ambrosetti.
This is the main reading that Calviño has made of the new macroeconomic projections published this Wednesday by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), generally revised downwards due to the impact of the war in Ukraine and inflation.
As a result, the OECD has lowered its economic growth prospects for Spain in 2022 from the 5.5% it estimated in December to 4.1%, somewhat below the 4.3% drawn by the Government in its latest official projections.
The Vice President highlighted, however, that the figure confirms an economic increase of more than 4%, which demonstrates the strength of the recovery from the crisis opened by the Covid pandemic.
“We are going to take advantage of growth to balance our fiscal balances”, reducing the deficit and debt, he anticipated, stressing that “the Government’s agenda involves fiscal responsibility, social justice and structural reforms”.
Calviño’s speech was the starting signal for a forum, held under the slogan “The world is changing: the new frontiers of growth and development”, which brings together numerous top-level speakers from the field on June 8 and 9 national and international economic and political
