The US Revel will receive its Christmas present a little late. On January 7, the residents of R1 (sixth division) will host PSG in the 32nd finals of the Coupe de France… in Castres. The Occitans, who wanted to face the Parisian ogre in the largest possible stadium, saw their wish come true after several discussions with the FFF and the public authorities. Revel will therefore challenge Kylian Mbappé’s team at Pierre-Fabre, the usual lair of Castres Olympique in the Top 14. The Revelois, who were already over the moon when they learned that they would play the capital club, will be even more so on the day of the meeting.
Around 10,000 spectators are expected in Castres on January 7 for this match which is more than unbalanced on paper. Several meetings have taken place on site in recent days with the FFF security commission, the prefecture and the town hall. And good news, the safety conditions have been validated. A few final arrangements and details are still to be resolved. A federal delegation must validate all the equipment one last time on December 27.
It is on this date that the president of US Revel, Didier Roques, hopes to open the ticket office for the match. The latter will be launched with the help of the CO which will lend its IT logistics to its neighbor in Haute-Garonne. The capacity of the stadium will be reduced compared to Top 14 matches since standing places are not permitted in the Coupe de France. The Revélois therefore expect a little less than 10,000 spectators in the stands of Pierre-Fabre against Paris-SG. On the Parisian side, 539 supporters are expected to travel to witness the opposition between David and Goliath.
