More efficient and faster iPads. This is the promise made by Apple, which unveiled this Tuesday, May 7, a new range of touchscreen tablets: the iPad Air 2024 and the iPad Pro M4, on the occasion of its Apple Event, where it made its announcements in a video broadcast live. Because, if last week the Apple brand announced a drop in its sales, in particular of its famous iPhone, it intends to encourage its most loyal buyers to pay the price to acquire its tablets. Which had not seen any significant developments for a year and a half.

Apple first unveiled a new version of the iPad Air, renamed the iPad Air 2024. “An even more powerful and even more affordable product,” assures the company. The new versions of the tablet will notably be larger. Consumers will be able to choose between 11-inch or 13-inch sizes. At the back, they will have a 12 Mpx wide-angle sensor to obtain “high resolution” photos as well as detailed “4K” quality videos.

Importantly, the tablet will now be powered by an M2 chip to enable “three times faster” performance compared to the previous model. This new version of the iPad Air will also have a storage capacity of up to 1 TB.

At the same time, the Apple brand unveiled the new features around its iPad Pro product, which is also available in 11 and 13 inches. This new version will be equipped with an M4 chip capable of managing 38 trillion requests per second. A chip “essential to offer power in such a fine product”, underlined the company during its conference. Added to this are “Pro apps” which will be dedicated to more professional use. The company notably showed the latest versions of the Final Cut Pro and Logic Pro editing tools, which are adapted to the touchscreen tablet.

Apple promises twice as fast performance and wants to make it an essential tool for “everyone.” Both size models benefit from an Ultra Retina XDR screen, “the most advanced screen in the world”, assures Apple. The screen incorporates Oled technology to “offer phenomenal full-screen brightness”.

In addition to being efficient, the object is also designed to be pleasant to use. Thus, the tablet is very thin, with a thickness of 5.1 millimeters for the 13-inch model and a weight of less than 600 grams.

The company hopes to make its iPad Pro M4 the equivalent of a modern laptop in the eyes of the consumer. It also presented a new Magic Keyboard, a support allowing the tablet to be equipped with a keyboard and a trackpad. She also unveiled a new Apple Pencil Pro: a stylus now compatible with the Find My network.
