OM president Pablo Longoria welcomed Thursday that his club had “returned to the race for the first four places” and assured that the second part of the season would allow us to see “an OM more in line with the footballing credo” of his trainer Gennaro Gattuso.

“The general assessment is that we are back in the race for the first four places”, which qualify for the Champions League, declared the president of OM during a press conference in the form of assessment of the first half of the season. “The trend of the latest results is rather positive and we will try to remain positive. With all the turbulence of the season, we are a little below where we should be. But I remain positive, we will get there,” he added.

After a series of four victories in a row, OM were held in check on Wednesday in Montpellier (1-1) for the last match of the first leg. At the break, the Provencal club is 6th, six points off the podium.

Longoria also praised the work of Gennaro Gattuso, “arriving at a difficult time”, when the club was going through a deep crisis. “We are very happy with his work. We know that he didn’t have time to work much. But he showed his intelligence and his ability to adapt. He has a great human relationship with the players and within the club. He brought a lot of energy and showed his ability to adapt to circumstances,” detailed the Spanish leader.

“Again, he didn’t have much time to work. In the coming months we will see an OM more in line with Gattuso’s footballing credo, a team which will be better adapted to what he wants, defensive stability and vertical play in the opposing camp,” Longoria further declared.
