Lyon, notably with a double from Kadidiatou Diani, easily won 3-1 at the expense of the Norwegian club Brann, Wednesday at Groupama stadium in a match on the 3rd day of the Women’s Champions League. Olympique Lyonnais have thus almost assured their place in the quarter-finals.

The Lyonnaises, who won their 14th victory in as many matches played this season, in front of barely 6,000 spectators in a 59,000-seat stadium, occupy 1st place in group B with three points ahead of Brann (2nd) whom they will face again on December 21 in Norway (6:45 p.m.).

Diani once again demonstrated her rise to strength with Lyon, where she arrived this summer from Paris Saint-Germain. She increased her goals tally to four in the Champions League, to which are added the three she has already scored in the French championship. She opened the scoring by taking advantage of a loss of ball by Brann’s team to find the opening with a powerful shot from the right in the 6th minute.

She made it 3-0 by scoring from close range after being alerted in depth by Danielle van de Donk (48), before giving way in the 58th minute to Dzsenifer Marozsan.

In the meantime, Ada Hegerberg scored OL’s second goal after Brann lost the ball in the area (23rd), then Perle Morroni found the post (33rd).

Overall, Olympique Lyonnais delivered a good collective performance, facing a valiant but clearly inferior opponent. Even if at the end of the game, Kvaleng Kielland reduced the gap (73) for the first goal conceded by OL this season in C1.
