With the third generation of the C4 presented today and launched by the end of the year 2020, the brand with chevrons, crosses a new step in the renewal of its range committed since the making of the independence of the label DS. Hired under the direction of the designer Alexandre Malval, and Xavier Peugeot, director of plan products become boss of the business Unit having regard to PSA, the project of the new compact sedan was ended by the Belgian Pierre Leclercq. If it has evolved since that Citroën has presented us with a mock-up here two years ago, the style has retained its main character traits. To adapt to the changing trends and tastes automobiles, the third generation of the C4 gives up the silhouette a classic for big wheels and a body elevated, typed crossover, reminiscent of the Kia XCeed. The grille inherits the latest developments in codes, Citroën, while the rocker adopt the famous protections Airbumps of the C4 Cactus, but in a new definition. The new C4 has been developed on the platform of multi-energy, CMP group, PSA, on which are placed including the Peugeot 208 and 2008, the DS3 Crossback and the Opel Corsa. For the C4, the wheelbase has been lengthened to the maximum of the possibilities of the platform. Length greater than that of the 2008 will exceed 4.30 mr.

The flanks and the rear part have been particularly cared for to the benefit of aerodynamics.

Like the other vehicles that are designed on the structure of the multi-energy CMP, the C4 offers a choice between petrol, diesel and 100 % electric. This last named ë-C4 allows Citroën to position itself on the market of compact sedan family, zero-emission in full expansion. This model will be powered by the motor of 100 kW (136 hp) of the other electric vehicles of the group. Thanks to a particularly neat aerodynamics, autonomy will be superior to that of the e-2008 (320 km) and is expected to exceed 400 km. As for the powertrain thermal, the C4 will be built on the bank of the organs of the PSA to provide the latest versions of gasoline 3-cylinder turbo Pure Tech (130 and 155 hp) and the diesel BlueHDi.

The C4 adopts an instrumentation fully digital. Citroën

The interior reinterprets the formal language current with a new dashboard that is still more purified. It includes a digital instrumentation and, in particular, a large slab of digital at the center of the console. The version 100 % electric is accompanied by the appearance of a tiny lever of the transmission pulse on the central tunnel. Like the latest creations of the brand, the C4 will benefit from the program of the Advanced Comfort developed by Citroën and is based on suspensions to bumpers, hydraulic and upholstered seats.
