platform users have reported in the aftermath that they had been notified by Twitch of the removal of their clips (excerpts of longer videos, posted online by the “streamers”). And for good reason, the very powerful american organization of record companies, the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), sees a bad eye the use of its securities in contravention of any copyright. She has made many reports on behalf of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) u.s. law against piracy of works on-line.
“This week, we had a sudden influx of withdrawal requests in the name of the DMCA for videos with music in the background dating from 2017-19. If you are not sure of the rights to the audio in the stream earlier, we recommend that you remove these clips. We know that many of you have a lot of content, and we are working to make this easier,” said the platform on Twitter. “We understand that this has been stressful for the creators involved, and we are working on solutions, including looking at how we can give you more control over your movie clips”, she added, stating : “We adhere to the DMCA, which requires that we take action on the contents and the accounts of the streamer in relation to the holders of rights, as happened this week”.
