Surprise: in the course of the 2020 WeShare, the car sharing service free-stream Volkswagen, and ŠKODA, to be introduced in seven other cities between Germany and other european Countries: Prague and Hamburg in the spring, followed by Paris, Madrid, Budapest, Munich and Milan in the course of the year. In each WeShare will make available a fleet of 100% electric, for a total of 8,400 vehicles to zero emissions.
In Prague and Budapest, WeShare will work with ŠKODA. In other cities in Germany, France, Spain and Italy, the range of vehicles includes the e-Golf, e-up! and the ID.3 by the end of the year. WeShare has already started operations in Berlin in 2019 with 1,500 e-Golf, and at the moment has 50.000 registered users.
“The 2020 for us it will be a year of strong growth”, says Philipp Reth, CEO of WeShare. “We are confident that the car sharing free-flow 100% electric will be a transition element, scalable, and meaningful in the context of sustainable mobility and shared for a long time, on the road towards the autonomous guide”.
According to Reth, the goal must be to make inroads in the general public along with the city. “Therefore, we hope to receive the support of municipalities, for example regarding the rates of parking for vehicles in the sharing, or the definition of new areas in the public areas, in order to stimulate the potential users and make car sharing even more interesting and relevant,” says Reth.
In the German capital, where WeShare was launched in June 2019, at the moment they are registered to the service to approximately 50,000 users. About three-quarters of them are active customers, that is to say that they have used WeShare at least once. “If compared with the sector as a whole is very high, and demonstrates that WeShare is certainly relevant to the urban mobility of the people,” said CEO Philipp Reth. In the past six months, the fleet of Berlin, has traveled over three million kilometers, which correspond to an average between four and five trips per vehicle per day.
One of the main challenges faced by WeShare in Berlin has been charging. To compensate for the insufficient availability of public infrastructure, the Volkswagen Group and WeShare have therefore started a cooperation with the Group Schwarz, which is currently installing a total of 140 charging stations in public in 60 supermarkets Lidl and 10 Kaufland in Berlin. In quality of partner in the collaboration, WeShare can use the charging stations for your fleet on an exclusive basis outside of the opening hours of points of sale. The columns will be available for all customers during the hours of activity. In addition to the Group Schwarz, WeShare plan to create more partnerships with the intention of expanding the available infrastructure.
