THE natural CAPITAL, that is, the set of ecosystems, produces annually a large amount of benefits. Taking into account only the water resources, flood prevention, pollination, agricultural and recreational activities, and its value exceeds the 240 billion euros is the economic evaluation of ecosystem goods and services, elaborated in the Third report on the state of natural capital in Italy, by the ministry of the Environment. Specifically, natural capital refers to the stock made from the total of the ecosystems which generate services, such as the flow of water or the prevention from the floods. The population of bees, for example, represents the stock while pollination is the service provided.
