gyro gearloose. He liked it when you called him so. Because Markus Heller, a comedian, Props Builder and technical Director of the Karl’s Kühne Gasse look, was a great inventor. He had crazy ideas. And you put also. With him the impossible was possible. For example, a wheelchair shot up so fast like a rocket across the stage. And that an ordinary industry transformed wasteland into a dream factory.

For example, “factory”. Premiere had the spectacle in 2011, in Winterthur. On the site a whole chocolate factory was built. On the side of a crane, in the ground thousands of meters of cable were laid. The technology was in the containers in the ground. This was the Basis for a theatre, the enchanted a large audience.

Here were able to flourish from Nothing to huge flowers. “That was me” that would be Markus Heller can tell, because he was the technical marvel of Karls Kühne Gasse look responsible. Without him, spectacles such as “Akua”, “Silo 8” and “sector 1 would not have been possible”.

Bold Prefer to Mime as an organ-Builder

The two K in “factory” stand for Karl’s. And for design and the arts. Both Markus Heller could. Because he was also the man who curved in the eighties at the Winterthur Church square on the penny-farthing around. With Strassenvariété his theater life began. He wanted to be Mime as an organ Builder. (The teaching, he graduated from notabene with the highest Note.)

the Theater is also a craft. The basis for Heller learned in the MIME school of Ilg in Zurich. There he met Brigitt Maag, Paul, because man, Ernesto Graf. Together they founded in 1984, Karl’s Kühne Gasse look. “I was finally able to let my creative ideas run free,” said Heller. The teaching of the troupe was on the road. You said: “Running a the audience that has to eat in the evening nothing.”

He pushes the boundaries

Markus Heller made sure the people were amazed and remained. He ran high on a leg of the rock walls, he turned with a sawn Fiat Panda artful pirouettes and flew as a fire-breathing dragon over the heads of the spectators. “In another season, we decided to sink a six-ton Float in the specially landscaped lake and created a water fairy that hovered in her dress from running water poetic about the lake.” Heller described his actions to the force. “Limitless” is the title of this little self-portraits.

And really: Markus Heller blew all the limits that there are in Switzerland for the theatre. No one believed that a lake is playable – the spectacle of “Akua” in Würenlos showed the opposite. And so Karl invented’s Bold lane, look for new places: the gravel pit for “quarry”, the car Park for “jam”. Again and again, the industrial Park was recorded in Oberwinterthur. From there, the big production of “Silo 8”, “factory”, “sector 1 went” their way through Switzerland to Olten and St-Triphon.

Many of Karl’s Kühne stories end with a farewell. In the “factory” way of driving a ship, in a “Silo 8” lifts, an air ship, and disappears in the Dark. Markus Heller’s vehicles were bigger a little each year. But so massive these structures were, with them, the characters were able to stand out always. So he brought Karl’s Kühne Gasse look to the fly.

The air was his Element

Heller, himself a keen Pilot with his own machine. It was a member of the Karl’s Kühne family, once not so good, so he invited to the Alpine flight.

In the last season of “sector 1” in Olten, Markus Heller made up into August the number with the flying wheelchair. According to St-Triphon, he will not accompany the squad though. Markus Heller died on the night of Monday at his home in Uster, according to “patiently suffered, severe illness”, as it says in the obituary. He was 62 years old.

Already the middle of the year, the management had transferred the succession as an overall technical head at his Deputy, Otmar Faschian, says Karl’s alley look Bold. The path goes on.
