Bayern Munich’s outgoing coach, Thomas Tuchel, suggested on Friday that he could stay in his position at the end of the season, while the management of the German giant seems to be struggling to find a replacement.

“Everything is possible,” Tuchel said on the eve of the trip to Stuttgart, third in the Bundesliga. But for now, the separation agreement with the club “still stands”, he stressed.

In February, the former PSG coach agreed to end his collaboration with Bayern at the end of the season, even if he then made it clear that he would have liked to stay at the club.

In April, Bayern officially ceded its German championship title for the first time in 11 years to Bayer Leverkusen and its coach Xabi Alonso, still undefeated in the league.

Bayern’s latest target, Ralf Rangnick, indicated on Thursday that he would remain at the head of the Austrian selection. He joins the list of other candidates who would have refused the position, starting with Xabi Alonso but also Germany coach Julian Nagelsmann.

Winner of the Champions League with Chelsea in 2021, Tuchel led Bayern to the semi-finals of this competition this season. After drawing (2-2) in the first leg, the German club travels to Madrid on Wednesday to face Real.

Tuchel admitted that the uncertainty around the future manager could be a distraction for the players. “But I don’t think they want to know within five days,” he said.
