In the Canton of Valais, the earth will not come to rest. According to the Swiss seismological service (SED), it came on Wednesday morning in Zermatt and to the Southeast by the sanetsch pass again to two slight earthquakes. As many earthquakes as there is currently in Switzerland only rarely.
On Wednesday morning, the earth shook to 05.02 PM in Zermatt, with a magnitude of 2.9 on the Richter scale, such as the automatic earthquake alarm, ETH Zurich reported. About two hours later at 07.18 PM, approximately seven kilometres South of the sanetsch, another quake with a Magnitude of 1.9 pass registered on the Richter scale.
Since the night of Tuesday an “extraordinary earthquake in Savièse (VS) to the North of morals swarm” is active, writes to the SED on its website. Up on Wednesday morning, about 100 earthquakes had been recorded.
“Unusual clustering”
Only on Wednesday afternoon the situation calmed down. The Zermatt-quake is not, however, in connection to the Savièse-quake, said Philipp Kästli, seismologist at the SED, on request. At the same time take Place in both was a coincidence.
The Region of Savièse will, however, have been searching since Tuesday morning at two o’clock of an “extraordinarily active earthquake swarm of” home, writes the SED on its website. Accordingly, since then, around 140 earthquakes were recorded, which is almost one-tenth of this year in Switzerland registered the earthquake.
Twelve of them had been felt with a Magnitude of 2.5 or more of the population in the Region of Sion to Sierre. The four strongest quakes have reached Strengths between 3.0 and 3.3 and had occasionally been to the Bernese Oberland perceived. Several Hundred people had registered with the SED corresponding to the observations.
