Giusep Fry talk in Zurich of a sympathetic Grisons dialect. In the Grisons, however, it means that you listen to him, how many years does he have in the country is spent.
Fry was born in 1959 in the vicinity of Disentis is the Eldest of six siblings to a family of Mountain farmers. Early on, it moved him from the farm of the father. He made an apprenticeship as a chef at the age of 23, he sought by advertisement in a hotel magazine, a new challenge.
More Zurich than Grisons
A Zurich-based company invited him to the Uetliberg. Fry’s was late to the interview – he was first landed on the Zurich mountain instead of on the Uetliberg, because he knew the city poorly. Nevertheless, he was in 1983 managing Director of the Uto Kulm. Arrived, however, he is only 16 years later, when he bought the hotel of the Swiss Bank society.

Today, Fry says that he is more of Zurich, as the Grisons, even if he was speaking with his wife and two children, Vanessa and Fabian are still Romanesque. In the country, Fry’s is controversial. The a’s see him as a rebellious filmmaker, the other of ruining a law-breaker, of a valuable recreation area.
He was “a businessman and not under Lasser”, maintains Fry himself to say. So, he built the hotel over the years on the Uetliberg, without building permits to be seen. Multiple courts whistled him, and he had to cancel the new buildings again. For the past two years, a design plan creates a clear set of rules – and since then, nothing more is heard of quarrels.
