A multi-layered plant from Asia, this year’s winner of the filmfestival in Cannes. Two awards for German co-productions. Favorite Quentin Tarantino was, however, empty.
The Golden palm of the Cannes festival, goes to the socio-critical Thriller “Parasite” of the South Korean Bong Joon-ho. The 49-Year-old is the first filmmaker from South Korea, wins the main prize of the world’s largest film festival.
The factory is about a family living in precarious conditions. The parents are unemployed. But then the adult son gets the Chance to work for a wealthy family. Together with his parents and sister, he admits, one after the other servants out of the way.
“thank you. I feel very honoured that the French cinema has always inspired me,” said the 49-Year-old Bong, as he accepted the Palme d’or.
the Grand prize of The Jury, the second most important award of the festival went this year to “Atlantics” of the Director Mati Diop. In the fairy tale Drama, the French girl tells a tragic love story set in Senegal.
Banderas and Beecham as an actor is excellent
As the best actor of the Spaniard Antonio Banderas has been honoured. The 58-Year-old plays in “suffering and glory” by Pedro Almodóvar, a gay film Director who looks back on his life. Best actress the US-British woman Emily Beecham was. The 35-Year-old embodied in “Little Joe”, the Austrian Jessica Hausner, a scientist, developed a genetically engineered Plant. “Little Joe” is a German co-production.
the price of The Jury was awarded two Times: He went to the same Parts in the social drama “Les Misérables” of the young Frenchman, Ladj Ly, as well as the social satire “Bacurau”, the Brazilian Kleber Mendonça Filho and Juliano Dornelles.
