“It’s good to leave this field undefeated. It’s a very positive result because OM was strong. They have only lost once at home this season, against Paris SG, and we understood why this evening,” declared the Italian technician at a press conference.
“We scored a great goal, an important goal, on a great action. We will need a Scamacca at the top to hope to pass this round. Tonight it wasn’t easy, they defended well. We didn’t find enough continuity in attack,” Gasperini also noted.
“The players were good. It wasn’t easy with Kolasinac’s rapid exit. We were courageous, we stayed high. It stopped them from being more dangerous, even if they had chances,” noted the Atalanta coach. “I knew OM and I expected that. I saw them win against Benfica or score four goals at Villarreal. They don’t have the same continuity in the championship but that’s what I expected,” he also explained.
“It’s a wonderful stadium, very beautiful. The noise, what he gives to his team… It gives them something more. We suffered but we played with personality and it was not easy in this atmosphere,” concluded Gasperini.
