Halle Zeventigster Francine is by the end of Tuesday to the life of a big fire in the Arthur Puesstraat in Lembeek. Neighbors tried her out through the window on the first floor to help escape, but all help came too late. A burning cigarette is probably the cause.
The fire was by the end of Tuesday shortly before 2 pm discovered by local residents. “I was already in bed and tokkelde on my mobile phone when I suddenly someone for help, heard the call,” says neighbor Serge Van Hoof. “Without hesitation, I opened the roller shutter and the window to outside to see what was going on. When I saw that there are some houses further fire had broken out.”
Ladder from garden
Serge ran immediately to the street, where a few other neighbors had gathered. “At one of them, we are in the garden a ladder to go to remove then on the facade of the burning house”, the man further. “The ladder wasn’t high enough so I just under the window. The neighbor was standing there and I was hoping her out of the window to be able to help. She said only that she was going to die in order afterwards to turn and disappear at the window. We realized that it unfortunately was too late…”
