Gavi, the Spanish international midfielder, suffers from a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee, his club, FC Barcelona, announced on Monday, which makes his participation in Euro 2024 football very uncertain.
The 19-year-old player was injured during La Roja’s 3-1 victory against Georgia on Sunday, in qualifying for the Euro, and examinations showed that he suffered from “a rupture complete anterior cruciate ligament of the right knee and an associated injury to the external meniscus,” Barça said in a press release. The duration of unavailability is not mentioned, but it is generally more than six months, which makes his participation in the Euro in Germany (June 14-July 14) very uncertain.

Gavi is a regular starter in the national team, where he has 27 caps, and especially for Barça, reigning Spanish champion and current 3rd in La Liga. The Catalan club is already without another executive in the middle, the Dutchman Frenkie de Jong, injured in the ankle for two months, but whose return seems imminent.
