Drama “Boyz n the Hood” earned him the Oscar nomination, and now American Director John Singleton has died at the age of 51 years. Many film-makers were dismayed.
The American Director and screenwriter John Singleton is dead. He died at the age of 51 years following a stroke. He died peacefully, said his family. Singleton had been treated in a hospital in Los Angeles. The members decided to stop life support measures.

Known John Singleton was mainly due to the films “Boyz n the Hood” and “2 Fast 2 Furious”.
With his debut film “Boyz n the Hood” in 1991, about gang violence in a poor neighborhood of Los Angeles, Singleton was a pioneer of the new African-American cinema. He was raised in the gang-known district of South Central L. A.. In 1992, Singleton was the first African American and youngest Director to be nominated for a best Director Oscar.
Singleton dramas in the following years, other Social, Thriller and action movies, including “Poetic Justice,” “Four brothers,” “Breathless – a Dangerous truth” and “Higher Learning – The rebels”. His biggest commercial success he had with the action movie “2 Fast 2 Furious” in 2003. Singleton also directed “Shaft”Remake, and worked for television. In 2003, Singleton was honored on the Hollywood “Walk of Fame” with a star sticker.
Hollywood mourns
film-makers expressed dismay at the death of the Director. “Rest in peace, my friend,” wrote Oscar-winning actress Halle Berry on Twitter. Actor Samuel L. Jackson explained that Singleton had caused many young filmmakers the way. Director Jordan Peele called the deceased a “brave artist” and a “true Inspiration”, Director John Carpenter praised him as “a kind man”. In a Tweet from the Oscar Academy, it means that Singleton will be greatly missed.
