Christian Friis Bach has been fired as secretary general of the Danish Refugee council with effect from today 24. april.

It confirms Christian Friis Bach now even to Ekstra Bladet.

– It is a ready firing, and now I try myself as a farmer, this is what I want to say right now, says Christian Friis Bach, who is now together with his wife, Karin Friis Bach, who is regionspolitiker for the Radical Left.

On Facebook he elaborates why he was fired:

’the Danish Refugee council has in the last few years been faced with major challenges with the economy, with a major new IT system and with the political development. In such a process, it is essential to get everyone to stand together – from the new bureau to frontlinjemedarbejderne in Yemen and Afghanistan. The firing shows that it has not succeeded. I’m sorry, but I want the Danish Refugee council all the best in the future. It is a powerful and skilled organization that makes a difference for refugees and displaced persons every single day. the
Look forward to more time with the family. And now I must really try me as a farmer’, writes Christian Friis Bach is on Facebook.

Christian Friis Bach, took office as secretary-general of the Danish Refugee council 1. november 2017. Before that, he was under-secretary-general of the united nations, and chair of the united nations economic commission for Europe. He was elected to Parliament at the 2011 elections and sat in Parliament until 2014. He was minister for development cooperation from 2011 until he resigned in 2013. It happened in connection with the GGGI case, in which Lars Løkke Rasmussen had traveled all around the world in first class.

According to Christian Friis Bach’s contract, he served 81.569 crowns plus pension per month.

In a press release tells the chairwoman of the Danish Refugee council executive committee Agi Csonka:

’the Christian is a visionary and full of ideas a leader, which has enabled many exciting developments to come in time. The terms of the international humanitarian organisations are under strong pressure. It requires razor-sharp managerial priorities to lead the organisation forward in this landscape and to give employees the best possible working conditions in order to help refugees the world over. A unanimous executive committee determines that there is a need for a second ledelsesprofil to lead the Danish Refugee council through the necessary changes, so that the position as one of the world’s leading humanitarian organisations be continued’.

HR-director Mads Egeskov Sørensen is appointed as acting managing director.
