The Dutch performance artist Yan Duyvendak is distinguished with the Grand Prix theatre/Hans Reinhart Ring in 2019 of the Federal office for culture (BAK). The most important Swiss theatre prize is endowed with 100’000 Swiss francs.
The Jury of honour Duyvendak for his work “beyond the boundaries of the divisions,” wrote the BAK on Thursday in a message. With its experimental forms, he achieved a wide audience in the various regions of Switzerland and toure in the world. Born in the Netherlands, uses the visual and performing modes of expression, to explore social or cultural phenomena. He experimented playing with popular culture forms such as Video, Musical or computer.
Duyvendak studied at the École cantonale d’art du Valais and the Ecole supérieure d’art visuel in Geneva. Abroad, in Barcelona, Berlin and Marseille, he lives in stays again today in Geneva.
The BAK awards, five more awards to theatre professionals. This will go to Director Thom Luz, actor and Director François Gremaud and his 2b company, stage designer and theatre-maker, Dominic Huber, actress, Bettina Stucky as well as theatre facilitator, Vania Luraschi. The winners will each receive 40’000 Swiss francs. The awarding of the Hans-Reinhart-ring, as well as the theatre awards will take place on 24. May at the Théâtre du Crochetan in Monthey, in the framework of the 6. Swiss Theatre encounter. Federal councillor Alain Berset will present the prizes.
The Grand Prix theatre/Hans Reinhart Ring continues the Tradition of the Swiss society for theater culture, awarded the most important Swiss theatre prize and each have a personality or Institution of the Swiss theatre work. (SDA)
