Scrum half Cobus Reinach, double world champion with South Africa, reappeared at Montpellier training at the start of the week and is applying for a place in the Hérault team which will face Clermont on Saturday during the 6th day of Top 14.

The day after the Springboks’ victory against the All Blacks (12-11), Reinach (33) returned to his native country to celebrate their fourth world title, the second in a row. Faf De Klerk’s understudy started four times during the last World Cup, and notably during the victorious quarter-final against France (29-28).

Reinach, under contract until June 2025, could participate in his first Top 14 match of the season, young Léo Coly being unavailable after suffering a double concussion against Racing 92 (19-16) on October 29.

The return of the efficient South African scrum-half is all the more anticipated as Montpellier, led this season by English manager Richard Cockerill, occupies 13th place in the championship.
