It is a very small sketch, Robert Wyatt points out that the text is shorter than a haiku. Ten syllables, four words: Overnight, Upstream, Downwind, Overland.

Why he named it to ”Brian the fox” is unclear, but he had thrown down some musical sketches based on these words, without being clear about whether paced or vartåt it was aimed. And when the secret japanese Tomoyasu Hayakawa in the 90’s wondered if Robert had some music lying around that he could do something with, so it was them he got.

”Brian the fox” is still a song of Robert Wyatts album ”Cuckooland” in 2003. An album where even the Tomoyasu Hayakawa starred, with his wife, Rinko, but the song was called ”Tom Hay’s fox”. (Rävens function is still unclear, but Tom Hay should aim at Tomoyasu Hayakawa.)

In Japan, however, continued the work with the small musikfragmenten, and in the spring of 2019 has likely grown to an album of over an hour. The name is now The Future of Eve and the album is called ”KiTsuNe/Brian the fox” (don’t flaunt); kitsune is fox in japanese.

To Robert Wyatt retired in 2014 plays a smaller role, his involvement seems to be confined to the old recording, which will pop up time and time again, more or less manipulated. Among the mighty echoes, sweeping syntkaskader, shimmering änglaröster, gnetigt gnisselplonk and something akin to whale songs.

can be heard jazzing around in the ”04.03”, it is probably also the Robert Wyatt. Otherwise, most of it is slow, very and elevated, as befits an artist who does not even exist on the image.

For this Tomoyasu Hayakawa is a figure so elusive that it becomes fascinating in and of itself. He made some discs in the 80’s under the name Tomo Akikawabaya, limited-edition, all with the same model on the covers. Then he formed the band, Beata Beatrix, who recorded four albums, but to give them out.

most, however, have återutgetts later, and laid the foundation for a small cult. But I guess it is only now he turns into the kind of mytfigur that more than a few actually have heard of.
