Peter Bence, how do you become the fastest pianist in the world?
For me, it was just a joke, I don’t see it as a musical performance. As with many other Guinness book world records, it was more a question of the limit too. I studied back then and played every classic piece a bit too fast. My teachers and classmates made jokes about my temper, and so the idea came up with the world record.
you Had to apply for the record attempt?
As I said, a few friends and teachers have suggested me for it. I didn’t want to do it first. Until about a year later I have dealt seriously with the question and me logged in. Finally, the administrative cost of registration was much greater than the record attempt itself. It was an interesting experience.
Have you been practicing specifically for this?
I just wanted to make sure to failure. That would have been really embarrassing. So I rehearsed the record attempt during two weeks, on different pianos. And as I had broken the record in 10 cases out of 10, I was sure.
With Covers of Lady Gaga or the world-famous “Africa” by Toto, he was famous: Peter Bence. Video: YouTube/Peter Bence
To Youtube Videos, over 800 million Hits.
Yes, this is huge. I’m really excited about it. The 800 million are not derived but only from Youtube, but with Facebook-clicks, combined. And now there are even 1 billion.
In the networks they share, especially Covers of pop songs. What you play live?
I don’t really see myself more as a composer, I started with classical composition, and then I went to Berklee to study film music. Soon my CD will appear, which contains half of my compositions. I can’t wait to share these pieces with others. Anyone who comes to my concerts, you will be able to hear these pieces before they are published. And if you ask me: in the future, the cover will be less and less, and own pieces more and more.
