the Mazda6 was an immediate success upon its introduction in 2002. It had much new to offer compared to what Mazda customers were accustomed to. First and foremost, so the good out with the tight, elegant lines and sharp front.

It was not only the outside, the Mazda6 uplifting. The new style was led through into an interior that radiated sportsappeal – or ‘zoom-zoom,’ as Mazda called it. Alu-look on the centre console, kromkanter of the instruments, large, classic air vents and a thick leather steering wheel put a line under the Mazda6 as a sporting family car.

at the same time was functional and very spacious with good space in the back seat, so it recommends itself as a family car.

the Mazda6 was not only smart design. Out on the road rivaled only by Alfa Romeo, Audi or Ford Mondeo on køredynamikken. It steers accurately, feels agile, but the price is a cash suspension. The car was criticized for an urgent hjulstøj, but it was better with the mini in 2005, which came better noise suppression.

Cool motors
Motormæssigt was the Mazda6 well equipped. Even basismodellens 1.8-liter engine with 120 hp is fresh and strong enough that you do not feel that you are compromised with køreglæden by selecting the smallest motor. The 2-liter engine with 141 hp is still preferable, as it gives the Mazda6 kraftoverskuddet to give it as a sports sedan with style. The costs must be kept down, you can choose one with 2-liter diesel engine. Again it is powerful and durable engines, but they are not quite as cultured and refined as they could be.

Check out for rust
Admittedly, Germany’s response to the FDM, ADAC, named the Mazda6 as the most error-free car in its class, but there hangs a black cloud over the car: It is extremely vulnerable to rust! It is due to old construction methods and far too little protection. But you can find a Mazda6 that is in good condition and has received additional corrosion protection, you should not hold you back.

Checklist

Engine and gearbox

General is the Mazda6 equipped with some of the most hassle-free engines you can find. They have all kædetræk on knastakslerne, so you don’t need to think about an expensive replacement of the timing belt – except if you choose the 2-liter diesel engine, where it needs to be changed at 120,000 km, so check servicebogen. The coupling can chop on the diesel engine when it is cold, it can be done by switching koblingsnavet.

Undercarriage

There have been examples of defective bushings in the steering and, in general, is undervognsbøsningerne not the most durable, and an early version may well have the veil on this point. Finally can brake discs be worn crooked after only 15.000-20.000 km drive, which can only be corrected by replacement or recessing.

Bodywork

Mazda6 gets bundkarakter, when it comes to rustbeskyttelses. Good enough for 90% of the car is galvanized, but the Danish copies have never received additional treatment from the importer’s side, and it is bad in our climate. The rear inderskærmene is made in felt and draws moisture to itself, it provides a breeding ground for rust. Skærmkanterne is a construction that gathers lots of dirt, which in turn form the basis for rust. The bottom protective plates are flawed. This means that rocks can punch a hole on the surface and let rust get a bite.

Interior

You have solid seats with upholstery in high quality. Generally the interior has nice finish in solid materials. Luminous tell-tales are seen and check out in addition to the climate-the plant works, if there is one. Finally, there have been problems with the tailgate seals in the stationcarudgaver with oozing water and wind noise to follow. It can be recommended to go for a Touring version, which has air-conditioning, cruise control, leather steering wheel, seat heater, heating in the electric side mirrors and power-operated side windows behind.
