We are used to seeing tv host Jes Dorph-Pedersen in nice shirt and blazer, when he welcomes you to ‘Go’ aften Danmark’.
But on Wednesday night he had the degree changed the wardrobe, he starred in Danish Rainbow Awards in the circus building in Copenhagen, where he was to he presented this year’s prize.
when he arrived on the scene, it was as a drag queen wearing stilettos, pailletkjole and long blond wig.
The entertaining feature was, according to Jes Dorph be to bring more focus on LGBT people in the tv industry.
– When I was asked if I would present an award wearing drag clothing in the circus building, I just had to think about me a little bit about. But I quickly said yes, thank you. In fact, it was the point to show that there must be more diversity in the LGBT substance in the media. Therefore, it was also fun with a drag queen as a tv-host on the ‘Go’ aften Danmark’.
Although the 60-year-old television host was very soon on the idea, he had given a few considerations.
– My first thought was: ‘Wow, I need to perform in women’s clothing in public? How much attention can it be?’
I was in doubt if I would think that it was cool that there was a picture in the archive forever of me in women’s clothing. But then I agree with myself that it really was needless to think like that, he explains.

– It to be drag is an art form. It is a way to act on, which in fact has nothing with sexuality to do at all.
It is not the first time that the tv host jumps out in a dress, but it was the first time that it was women’s clothing, he was in.
-I have already through my tv career appeared in many different costumes. So if I said no to dress me in women’s clothing, then it would be with the argument, that there was something wrong with it – and it is not, therefore, to turn the Jes Dorph fixed.
Although Jes Dorph is glad that he threw himself into the project, he admits outright that he managed to be somewhat nervous before going on.
– When I put myself in sminkestolen, two hours before I need to, I thought: ‘What the hell have I messed me out in the)’, but there was fortunately so good atmosphere, it quickly went over. I felt, however, the nerves just before I had to go on. There I remembered that the crown princess was there, and it made me a little nervous, he admits.
It all went, however, beyond all expectations.
– It was a challenge to be on the heel. Fortunately I had received good advice from my girlfriend. She just said that I might not swing with your arms, but instead had to use my hips, and I think it went better than feared, laughing Jes Dorph.
