The international basketball federation (FIBA) announced this Wednesday on the 3×3 basketball teams automatically qualified for the 2024 Olympic Games. The first three nations in the FIBA rankings, for men and women, have inherited this ticket. These are therefore the United States, China and Serbia for men, and the United States, China and France for women.

The Blues remain frustrated in Tokyo, in 2021, where they were satisfied with 4th place. European and world champions in 2022, Laëtitia Guapo and her teammates are aiming for a first Olympic medal in this discipline that is still new to the Olympics. Last June, the French Basketball Federation (FFBB) announced the signing of eight players under federal contract in order to better prepare for the big event a year later.

For the men’s team, they will have to validate their ticket for the Olympic Games by winning a qualifying tournament (TQO). Two tournaments will take place, the dates and locations of which will be known next December. The Blues did not qualify for the Tokyo Olympics and won the bronze medal at the 2022 World Cup, after failing in the semi-final against Lithuania (18-17 after extra time).
