First there was the ‘Gøngehøvdingen’, then came ‘1864’ and now is the DR ready to throw themselves over a new drama series based on the history.
It is Leonora Christina, is a good 300 years after his death will be awakened, it writes Berlingske.
Leonora Christina was the daughter of Christian the Fourth, and Kirsten Monk, and she was a big part of his adult life imprisoned in the blue tower at Copenhagen Castle. She was accused of having contributed to the high treason committed by her husband, Corfitz Ulfeldt.
During his time in captivity, she wrote in the book ‘Jammers Minde’, which appeared in 1867.
– the Story of Leonora Christina can be all we expect of a DR-series. It is a great history of denmark, but it is also a near portrayal of a man who fights for his identity and eligibility, and thus a history which also is highly relevant today, says dramachef in DR, Christian Rank for Berlingske.
The historical series on the Leonora Christina is being developed in collaboration with Zentropa, and to be directed by film director Pernille Fischer Christensen.
There is as yet no set date for when the DR sends the series, as the Danish people’s party, Alex Ahrendtsen already have a position on how to be approached. He was one of the sharpest critics of the DR’s previous historical drama, Ole Bornedals ‘1864’ from 2014.
Ahrendtsen proposes according to Berlingske, DR involves not just one but a whole team of historians to be on the ‘safe ground’, when they write the script.
