The Argentinian international pillar of Lyon Francisco Gomez Kodela has signed with Stade Français, the Parisian club announced on Tuesday, currently 4th in the Top 14. “The club is pleased to announce the arrival of the experienced right pillar Francisco Gomez Kodela, coming from Lyon and after a great World Cup. Hired as an additional player, Francisco is already there and is committed to us for the whole season,” indicated Stade Français.

He arrives to make up for the absence of the Georgian Giorgi Melikidze, currently injured in the neck. Gomez Kodela (38 years old, 35 caps) has been playing at Lou since 2016, after spending time with Biarritz (2011-2014) and Bordeaux-Bègles (2014-2016). Last season, the Argentinian played fourteen matches in all competitions, including seven as a starter.

Gomez Kodela started with the Pumas during the 2023 World Cup, finishing in 4th place (7 matches, 5 starts). Stade Français faces Castres on Saturday during the 5th day of Top 14. For their resumption on October 29, the Ile-de-France residents lost on the Bayonne pitch (16-3).
