The worldwide burgerkæde McDonald’s today launched a very creative April fools ‘ day, which ’took the ass’ customers. They thought that it was a completely true story, that McDonald’s will now launch a completely new burgertype in Australia, which virtually consists solely of pickles and cheese – without the meat.
It writes several media outlets including the New York Post and the Daily Mail
The new McPickle Burger launched their own official Instagram and Facebook page today. In addition to a video and pictures, wrote the McDonald’s also the following text:
‘To all of you who love pickles. Here is the news everyone has been waiting for. We are proud to present our new McPickle Burger’.

Pickle lovers, it’s the news you’ve all been waiting for. We’re super stoked to announce the launch of our brand new McPickle Burger. It’s time to tuck into juicy, flavoursome pickles layered between melted cheese, ketchup sauce and toasted sesame seed buns. It’s sure to be a treat for all your senses. #dailynuggets #mcpickle #pickleoverload #maccas #imlovinit
But unfortunately for all people who love the pickled cucumbers, it was all an April fool. And it backfired for burgerkæden, because many of their customers then became a bit angry that you can’t actually buy a McPickle Burger with lots of lovely pickled cucumbers.
A customer wrote: ‘don’t take the piss out of us. Get it in place to happen’.
another wrote: ‘I would wish, that it was not an April fools’.
And a third wrote: ‘For hell. It is indeed an April fool. Now I am furious’.
There was also, of course, a lot of customers who showed their disgust over that you could find to create a new burgertype almost exclusively consisting of pickled cucumbers.
