Vice-Chancellor Scholz has defended the extension of the Export ban of arms to Saudi Arabia against criticism. In report from Berlin he said that as long as there is no EU-wide arms control policy, it is complicated.

After the extension of the arms export ban to Saudi Arabia, the critical voices are increasing, especially in the Union. The decision was a Declaration of bankruptcy for the German foreign and security policy, said the economic policy spokesman of the Union faction in the Bundestag, Joachim Pfeiffer.

The Vice-Chancellor and SPD Vice-Olaf Scholz defended in the report from Berlin, the line of the Federal government: “I think really what we have decided.” In the face of hungry children in Yemen, and families to escape Germany had to take responsibility and should deliver no more weapons in the war zone. The decision of the Federal government was primarily at the Insistence of the SPD in the coalition agreement, a partial arms export stop for the Yemen war countries involved.
