– The chinese publishing is no different than a fictional story, says Hua Zile, who is the founder of a platform that supports the gay and lesbian community in China.

– For gay people in this country it is a great annoyance.

In China it is usually that film is undergoing a tough procedure, where scenes will be cut before the film gets to be shown.

Movies with gay themes often find it difficult to be approved for release. Same-sex couples should not have to act in the tv, while homosexual content is prohibited on the online streaming services.

In 1997 afkriminaliserede China, homosexuality, while it was first removed from the list of mental diseases in 2001. Marriage between two persons of the same sex is still illegal.

Despite the censorship, the chinese moviegoers welcomed the ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’, which is in the top five, after that it came on the posters in the last week.

It is, however, not all of which puts the brand to the widespread censorship in the film.

– I just thought that they had filmed it in a very subtle way, says Dian Dian, who saw the film in Beijing on Wednesday.
