Herbal substitutes for meat are in the Trend, in terms of taste but unfortunately often wrong. Star-chef Nelson Müller has nine Veggie chips tested – with surprising results.

Vegetarian and vegan is in Vogue, even in the case of Convenience products: supermarkets (and not only those with “organic” in the label) to fill all the shelves. Some products, however, is still the name of a very carnal classics – perhaps because terms such as “biscuit”, even for the convinced vegetarian at best sound nutrition, but not to fun to eat. In addition to the sausage and the Burger there is especially the Schnitzel, which serves such a Veggie-mimicry as a model. Stuck under the breading substitutes: vegetables, soy, Tofu, wheat protein. More or less they approach, in fact, in the Form and taste a piece of meat.

knows Our Tester, the star chef Nelson Müller, with vegetarian food, but food also has a weakness for house man. In his Essen’s second restaurant “Müllers” are Mac and cheese, meat loaf and sausage on the map – and, of course, Wiener Schnitzel. Such food has to do for Müller with a lot of the memories of his Childhood to this topic, he has devoted even a new cooking book: “home to love”. Just the chips, he says, for many people, almost like a family member – “was always there, will always be there”.
