World No.1 Iga Swiatek stormed into the quarter-finals of the WTA 1000 tournament in Madrid by knocking out Spaniard Sara Sorribes (55th) 6-1, 6-0 in 67 minutes on Monday.

In three matches played on Spanish clay, the three-time winner of Roland-Garros, on the throne of world tennis for the hundredth week, only lost nine games. Five for her entry into the running against the Chinese Wang Xiyu (52nd), two against the Romanian Sorana Cirstea (30th), and only one on Monday.
