It is sad that the Passing of director Daniel Färm in his op-ed gives up on trying to associate the Catalysis with various incorrect epithets as ”vänsterradikal”, ”unsustainable” and ”antipragmatisk”. Catalysis is a trade union think tank, which highlights the LO-members ‘ interests in the political and public debate.
In the elections of 2018 dropped the Socialists among their kärnväljare, i.e., among groups of the electorate where the party has traditionally had strong support. It’s all about the LO-members, workers, people with little education, the unemployed and people on sickness and activity compensation. For a long time, the party has moved to the right toward the center and mainly focused on the urban upper middle class. Kärnväljarna been taken for granted and now we see how they are abandoning the party.
It is true that we in our election assessment statement highlights the political theorist and political scientist Chantal Mouffes latest book To vänsterpopulismens defense (Mind publishing). We agree with Mouffe that it is time, after decades of neoliberal mittenpolitik, to clarify the political konfliktlinjerna and rekindle the economic right-vänsterkonflikten again.
the Need for this is all the more urgent now when working with extremely liberal market and employerfriendly parties as the Centre party and the Liberals. If Stefan Löfven could push the broad workers ‘and tenants’ interests as a matter of course and energetically as Annie Lööf driver of the employers and the private landlord web interests had been won.
The last thing the democrats need now is more fine words and great values that are not underpinned with concrete and powerful reforms that we are starting to approach us targets.
There are many good and honorable proposals, which Daniel Färm lists under the three headings of equality, sustainability and freedom. But the last thing the democrats need now is more fine words and great values that are not underpinned with concrete and powerful reforms that we are starting to approach us targets.
What is it that is new in the article, the party not in the words, endorsed the last thirty years? We on Catalysis do not think that there is a strong political direction for the party to put itself in a couple of centimetres to the left of the Januariavtalet and otherwise, in the large way of business as usual, performs.
In the Catalysis election assessment statement, we indicate the three socialist förnyelseområden: 1) the need for a new economic policy that allows for important social reforms, 2) the need to bet on the long-term advocacy with the objective to mobilise a progressive rödgrön majority in the next election, and 3) the need to renew and democratize the party organization in order to enable a vibrant and dedicated movement where members ‘ views and interests are taken seriously.
