UNITED states attorney general, William Barr, has on Sunday sent a letter to politicians in the u.s. congress, with conclusions from Russia-investigation, as special prosecutor Robert Mueller delivered Friday.
And it looks like the us president, Donald Trump, can breathe a sigh of relief. It assesses the Niels Bjerre-Poulsen, associate professor in american politics at the University of Southern denmark.
– It is not an acquittal, but there is no basis for bringing charges to bear, and there is not sufficient evidence.
– It is good news for the president, that there is nothing that suggests that the people in his campaign actively cooperated with Russia. It facilitates really the pressure on Trump, says Niels Bjerre-Poulsen.
The letter from Barr, it appears that Donald Trump either acquitted or declared guilty of obstructing the investigation in Russia-study.
And the investigation has not shown that Trump and his people conspired with Russia.
But the Mueller report can find Russian involvement in the election campaign in 2016, says the letter.
In the worst case for the Trump had the report shown that he has committed high treason. But it can, according to Niels Bjerre-Poulsen now be rejected.
– If there had been something really, really stressful, as there had been full cooperation between Trump and Russia, so it had been difficult to resist a claim for an impeachment.
– But it will be difficult now, when those who would like to have an impeachment, can’t lean on müller’s report, says Niels Bjerre-Poulsen.
He emphasizes that there still may be issues in the report, which proves to be burdensome for president Trump. But Robert Mueller has just not felt that there was enough to raise a charge.
According to Niels Bjerre-Poulsen waiting now to see how much of the report will be published. It is a political battle in which democrats believe that the entire report must be released.
Mueller and his team submitted their report to the minister of justice on Friday. It is William Barr, that determines how much of the report is to be published.
