Actor and film director Anne-Grethe Bjarup Riis was Sunday together with his family to the premiere of the new, Danish ungdomsfilm ‘Hacker’.
Here, she revealed that she just now working on a book about the harsh kræftforløb her son Gilbert, who just turned 12 years old, went through a few years ago.
– It will probably be next fall, for it is such a bun on 400-500 pages, which is also about my childhood, where I make some parallels. It is fiction, but really fetched from reality, one can safely say, said Anne-Grethe about the forthcoming book.
– It consumes all his strength, but at the same time makes it too strong, because you will find out that you will have to stand together to face it, Anne-Grethe previously said about the course Gilbert has been through. Photo: Mikkel Tariq Khan
And even though Gilbert is thankfully now completely kræftfri, is everything yet not the joy and gammen in the family.
– Two and a half years with chemo. It was not so fun. There are a lot of afflicted by anxiety. There is the psychologist for the whole gang to get through it, said Anne-Grethe and added that Gilbert is even thinking about a part of the process, he has been through.
– The older he gets the more aware he becomes about what he has been through, so there are some reflections and awareness that he has been close to dying. It is a taboo subject, but it touches him. It is still terrible, and I’m weeping just a little, said a clearly touched Anne-Grethe, before she and her family slipped into the darkness of the cinema.
