The Federal court of auditors has much to criticize in the renovation of the “Gorch Fock”: Too early has been fixed, to little controlled. The Bundeswehr and defence Ministry should draw Lessons from the cost fiasco.

The Federal court of auditors has asked the Ministry of defence, covers the million of expenditure for the redevelopment of the naval training ship “Gorch Fock” and the repair work, if necessary, stop. In its final report, the authority ranks there are also several criteria that had led to the immense rise in costs.

For 2016, the more than 60-year-old three-master is in a dry dock in Bremerhaven, Germany, to be again seaworthy. The contract for the renovation had received the Elsflether Werft AG.
