While Françoise Hardy will celebrate her 80th birthday in January 2024, the Hyper Weekend Festival will celebrate the singer around a creation with other artists, for its third edition from January 26 to 28 at Radio France, in Paris. This first significant musical event of the year at the Maison de la Radio et de la Musique has made it a habit to “salute the repertoire of living artists”, as Didier Varrod, musical director of the antennas, told AFP. from Radio France.
The work of Dominique A was revisited by other artists during the first edition, then that of Mylène Farmer was at the heart of the second. In 2024, the creation Personal Messages will be orchestrated by Sage, solo singer under this alias who is also sound architect for others (Laurent Voulzy, Clara Luciani or even Eddy de Pretto).
This will be Act I of this creation, which will have an Act II at the Printemps de Bourges in April with a different cast and repertoire. To break away from the usual pattern of this type of celebration, Didier Varrod wanted this time “the classiest backing band in pop music, Françoise deserves it”. “The idea is to have artists who will play the music, do backing vocals and perform one, two, even three songs. We already have Clara Luciani and Thomas Dutronc, who sing but are also guitarists,” says the festival manager.
Another mouth-watering creation, “Dalida diva tzigane” by Barbara Pravi. “It’s her idea: Dalida in a gypsy version with eight musicians on stage,” rejoices Didier Varrod. “Barbara has Iranian and Serbian roots and Gypsy music carried her. And, for her, Dalida is a powerful woman whose texts, such as Dying on stage or Let me dance, are underestimated. “Sensational Symphony” will see Jeanne Added take her repertoire on a journey with the Radio France Philharmonic Orchestra, without forgetting Dan Levy (former half of The Dø) on arrangements. Dan Levy produced Be Sensational, the singer’s founding album in 2015.
Pop sensation duo Kids Return will rework their debut album Forever Melodies with a gospel choir. Among the other concerts, in more standard formats, the first names include artists like Santa, a solo breakout from the group Hyphen Hyphen, or even the jack-of-all-trades Sofie Royer. All the first names revealed will be on the festival networks, before other subsequent announcements.
