As a nephew truck driver would have to hurry home to his little daughter in Denmark, after he had driven a truck to Spain, it was the driver Torben Nielsen, who sat behind the wheel. The trip has now cost the aarhus driver eight years in prison in France.

The 54-year-old Torben Nielsen got from one day to the other the task of driving the truck back to Denmark and flew to Malaga, where he could drive the car to Odense. But when the car was stopped by the customs in the south of France 26. February, it contained a hidden cargo of 987 kilos of hash. Torben Nielsen got after a week’s imprisonment a straksdom of eight years in prison by the court in Perpignan.

He refuses the guilty and in court denied that he knew of hashen in the truck.

Ekstra Bladet has spoken with the liberal driver who drove the truck to Malaga. He protests that it never was his plan, that he even had to drive the truck back, when he alenefar should have his daughter with him the following weekend.

Since it went up for him during the run in Spain that he and the hauler had different perceptions of who should drive the truck back, arranged for him to book a flight to Torben Nielsen, as he had driven the truck with in Spain before. It could hauler allegedly not find out.

The liberal driver speaking anonymously because of his work, but Extra the Magazine know his full identity. He tells that he left the truck at a gas station outside of Malaga, which many truck drivers use, and made sure that the car stood, where there was cctv. The trailer on the truck was missing a lock, and he had loaded some pallets of wine into which he had had a ordrebestilling on, he says.

How the 987 kilos of hash exactly were packed and hidden inside the truck, does not appear in the French media mention of the trial in Perpignan, but Torben Nielsen has to follow them said in court that he saw some pallets in the truck, and thought, there was talk about the wine.

The liberal driver said:

– I have no idea about where the ton of hash comes from, and which pallets that have been on. If it has been among the wine, so I had no idea about it, for it was packed as normal as all the other vinpaller, he says, and mentions that there was plastic around. The driver says that he has been in contact with the police.

the Family to Torben Nielsen is frustrated over the verdict and over the lack of contact to the driver in the French prison. They are sure that he has been unaware that he was going out on a risky trip with the illegal cargo through Europe.

Torben Nielsen’s partner and fiance for 11 years, Gitte Thoft, is gone in favour of the imprisoned man, and have chosen to stand forward in multiple media.

– I have no doubt. He would never dare such a thing, she says.

Gitte Thoft are still struggling to get contact to Torben Nielsen pr. telephone. She has only spoken with him once during a few minutes long telephone conversation immediately after the arrest 26. February and and have received a letter, written before he made his judgment.

Gitte Thoft has contacted the Danish lawyer, Erbil Kaya and told him about the case. He wonders about the rapid trial in France.

– I am not whether he is guilty or innocent. It mind I didn’t know. But I question whether this case is illuminated in such a way that one can reach, that he is guilty beyond any reasonable doubt. It goes beyond my comprehension, that one can get eight years in prison in the course of a week, he says to Ekstra Bladet.

the Driver’s French lawyer, Catherine Barrere, has previously explained the legal process of that, the driver is convicted under a special fast-track procedure, which is called ‘comparution immédiate’.

Catherine Barrere reported that it is established practice in the local court to apply the procedure in cases of drug trafficking across the border between Spain and France, when a person is taken in flagrante delicto.

During the trial a few weeks ago, said the prosecutor in the follow French media:

– we are not talking about a small transport. It is a part of an organized network. He demanded ten years of imprisonment

the Dane’s French lawyer has appealed against the judgment.
