“Muslims born in the west, the weaker of extremism”

“Muslims who are born and bred in the western world supports extremism to a greater extent than the muslims who are bred elsewhere. The feeling of being a disadvantaged group seems to be more evident among muslims born in the west.”

“A widespread perception is that the threat from the jihadists come from places outside the western world. This at the same time as a majority of the islamist terrorist attacks in Europe and the US are planned and executed by people who are born and bred in the western world.”

“In an attempt to find out more, researchers at the department of psychology at Uppsala university compared the muslims who are born and bred in the western world with muslims who are born abroad, but who have emigrated to Europe or the united states in adulthood.”

“It turned out that the former group increasingly identified with muslims as a group and showed greater anger over how muslims are treated, in comparison with the muslims who had emigrated to Europe or the united states. The most important finding, the researchers write, however, was that muslims born in western countries were more willing to use violence to defend muslims around the world.”

“According to the researchers, Nazar Akrami in the lead, can all differences be explained by muslims born in the western world have a stronger experience of that they are disadvantaged compared with the general population where they live, something that leads to frustration and anger.”

“This feeling can be in both groups, but is more marked among those who are born and bred in the western world. This is because they have clearer jämförelseramar for how muslims are treated in western societies. Muslims bred in Sweden, for instance, can expect to be seen that ”

“– most people who are born here think that ”

“Nazar Akrami, who is born and raised in Iraq, describes the difference between the two groups as”

“– There is another track in our research, where we will look at individual differences, ” he says.”

“In one of the seven studies, researchers examined the same thing, but among non-muslims (sri lankans in Denmark). But in this group, the synthesis is not any difference between the natives and the immigrants.”

TT: it Is only you muslims who are quick to take offence?”

“– Ha Ha, no I think not. However, experience many themselves as vulnerable, because the muslims associated with something negative almost every day on tv. Many of the natives will also be stamped with a religion which they usually don’t know anything about.”

“The current study consists of a total of seven different studies published in the scientific journal Psychological Science.”
