This Sunday, Fabio Quartararo scored his third podium of the season during the 15th round of MotoGP. The Frenchman snatched third place in the Indonesian Grand Prix, less than a second behind winner Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati), who regained the lead in the general classification. At the end of the race, the former world champion analyzed his performance.
“The key to my race was the warm-up lap where I really went off and really slid the tire to get it hot. I know my potential, my speed,” commented the Frenchman on Canal. “I was 3.5” behind Pecco (Bagnaia), I came back really close. We know what we are missing, as a driver I know that my position is much better than that,” declared the Nice native. 24 years old.
“Every opportunity I had in the season, I took them. In India, I could make the podium and I did. Here there was a small opportunity and I took it. We fought until the end. I can fight with the drivers in front, I’m super happy,” added Quartararo.
Coming back close to the Italian Bagnaia in the last laps, Fabio Quartararo did not hide his frustration about the potential of his Yamaha. The person concerned regretted the lack of “speed” and “power” of the motorcycle. “When you lack power, you cannot attempt to overtake. The day I have a good bike, I will be able to compete for victory in every Grand Prix,” complained the French rider.
Tenth in the world championship with 132 points, the Frenchman still has five meetings to regain victory. Next Sunday, the paddock will meet in Australia, on the Phillip Island circuit.
