Ugo Humbert, who defeated the Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas on Monday, defeated 6-4, 3-6, 7-5, will be the only Frenchman in the round of 16 of the Shanghai Masters 1000 ATP, after the defeats of Arthur Fils and by Adrien Mannarino earlier today.

The last Frenchman in the running, the left-hander from Moselle (34th in the world) started the game in the best possible way, winning the first set on his second set point. But the Greek came back to the score thanks to a completely controlled second set, won 6-3 with a shutout.

In a very tight last round, Humbert took the lead (4-1), before letting Tsitsipas come back (4-4), to finally clinch the victory (7-5) in 2h09. Humbert, who now leads three victories to one in his confrontations with the Greek, will face the American JJ Wolf (51st), who defeated the Italian Matteo Arnaldi (42nd), for a place in the quarter-finals.
