Jean-Claude Dusse will not return to the big screen. Michel Blanc, who played this key role in the Les Bronzés trilogy, mentioned in the columns of Journal du Dimanche that he would not participate in the filming of a fourth opus. The actor also disapproved of the last part released in 2006 Les Bronzés 3: amis pour la vie.

“I will not participate (in the fourth part, editor’s note), it’s over. This is just me, be careful! That would be hitting the wall. First of all, I’m not crazy about three, so four is not possible. At our age, we would seem to be hanging on to the branches, he confided. Jean-Claude Dusse, the public has it all they want, because the films are constantly on TV. I am no longer him physically, morally or artistically. But I’m delighted to be called by his name in the street, it doesn’t bother me.”

Les Bronzés and Les Bronzés fait du ski were released in 1978 and 1979. The feature films feature the adventures of a group of friends on vacation, played by Michel Blanc, Christian Clavier, Marie-Anne Chazel, Josiane Balasko and Thierry Lhermitte. The two successful films, directed by Patrice Leconte, have risen to the rank of cult films in France. So much so that thirty years later, in 2006, the filmmaker brought his actors together again for a third chapter. Although highly anticipated at the time, the film was not successful with the public.

For the moment, a fourth part of Les Bronzés is not planned. Patrice Leconte nevertheless confided in 2018 in the columns of Télé-Loisirs his ideas for relaunching the saga. The director was thinking of filming Les Bronzés 4 in a retirement home, before stating that this “project was too specific and would never be done”. Michel Blanc will be showing this Wednesday in the new film by Jean-Pierre Améris, Marie-Line and her judge, alongside Louane Emera.
