Good news and bad news for William Saliba. A starter with the Gunners, the French international defender actively participated in the victory against Manchester City (1-0) this Sunday, playing the entire match. That’s the good news. The bad news is that the former Stéphanois “suffers from pain in his right big toe”, as reported by the French Football Federation (FFF) this Sunday evening. Saliba is out of the Blues rally and the upcoming matches against the Netherlands in Amsterdam (October 13) then Scotland in Villeneuve d’Ascq (October 17).

“He will remain available to his club to treat this chronic injury,” adds the FFF press release. And to continue: “After speaking with Dr. Franck Le Gall, the doctor of the French team, Didier Deschamps noted the withdrawal of William Saliba and decided to replace him with Jean-Clair Todibo. The latter is expected at Clairefontaine on Monday at noon, like all the selected players. Todibo, 23, played his first match in Blue during the recent defeat in Germany (2-1). A match in which he hardly shone… The person concerned, however, has shined brightly with his club, OGC Nice, since the start of the season, and in particular since Germany-France.
