the Danish people’s party vice-chairman, Søren Espersen, should not have expressed his support for Margrethe Vestager as a possible future president of the EUROPEAN Commission.
Opinions fell on Wednesday to Jyllands-Posten, but Søren Espersen regret them now, after having talked with the DF-president Kristian Thulesen Dahl.
It says Søren Espersen Thursday to Ritzau.
– You say among other things in the article that it will give Denmark a completely different entrance than if it had been one or the other Jean-Claude Juncker (EU Commission’s current president, ed.), who is sitting there. What do you mean by it?
– I will say it in the way that I have regretted that I have let my strøtanker get out of the way. I have regretted. And I’ve had a good long talk with our president (Kristian Thulesen Dahl, ed.), and I will not stand on it.
– I will say that he is a very loving and friendly manner led me back on the path of virtue the right path. This has been the case. How I think it should be, how should a president act.
– He is certainly not agree with me, and I can understand, and so I have of course changed my attitude.
– What have you got to know of Kristian Thulesen Dahl?
– We’ve had a good talk, and I agree with him that it’s not very wise to come up with some strøtanker, when you do not have aired it in a proper way. So I am very pleased that we have found out it in this manner.
– I must say that I disapprove of what I have said. It was premature, and it was strøtanker, and those I should not have passed on to the public. The party’s position is another, it is, as David expresses, and I agree.
– But is it something you will continue to discuss internally in the party without maybe talking about it publicly?
– It I need not to discuss further. Now we are in complete agreement about it, and then we can move forward over the steppe.
– And I am very glad that I’m on the way has been guided. That’s how it should be. I have even done for others many times, so it is fully deserved, that I get it.
– So you support the party line?
I have all the days done. In all respects, I support the president’s line, whether it was Pia Kjærsgaard (formerly DF-president, ed.), and also Kristian Thulesen Dahl. Is how it is.
