snail’s pace in the crowded M-29, train Delays due to signal fault on the ring rail, a Schadzug that blocks the U-7. The plight of the public transport in the year 2019 at the latest belonging to the year 2035 of the past. The coalition wants to speed up the transport, drastically, improve, and expand. “A reversal of the trend in public TRANSPORT”, promises to transport Senator Regine Günther (independent, Green), “a clean, attractive, comfortable and reliable”.

This is to be decided on Tuesday in the Senate, the “local transport plan 2019-2023”, which also describes the development up to 2035. In the period from 2020 to 2035, the Senate wants to spend for public TRANSPORT, including the purchase of new buses and trains, new lines and the rehabilitation of the infrastructure of 28.1 billion euros.

The ambitious program is based on the assumption that Berlin’s population continues to grow and the transport offer more intensive uses. And the fact that the Senate is also in the budget, the cost of the Expansion. Instead of EUR 1.1 billion as in the past, the Senator of Finance is to subsidize the public TRANSPORT in the future, with 1.76 billion euros per year, i.e. investment and operational spend. In the years 2024 to 2028, the budget for urban transport is expected to grow even at times more than two billion euros in the year.

Tickets

at the same time, the LPP is to increase its revenue by around 3.4 percent per year, partly from ticket price increases (1.4 percent), and partly from the passenger in productivity (1.8 per cent) increases. Wherein, the previously agreed-upon free student ticket has been taken into account. By 2035, costs, and a loss of revenue of three billion euros, calculated, said Günther.

Specifically, the fleet tram currently 342 of the trains is expected to grow to 472 in the year 2015, when the U-Bahn, currently at 1272 to 1656 van with the S-Bahn, currently at 650-quarters of trains on 790. These are increases of up to 38 percent. The route-kilometres are expected to grow from currently 194 to 267 in the case of the tram. The already planned new lines, Central station, tower road, Ostkreuz connection and Adlershof – Schöneweide to place to go operational in 2021, and then to 2016/27 seven more routes are to be realized, including the M 27 tower road – Jungfernheide, and the M 48 Alexanderplatz – Potsdamer Platz. A total of 16 new construction projects up to 2035 are planned at the tram.

In the case of U – and S-Bahn is the target number the length of the route is still open, because decisions are pending, which routes can actually be realized. According to the U 5 to be opened in 2020, are four new routes in planning, but so far only feasibility studies are ongoing or in the course of this year, contracts will be awarded to: U 7 from Rudow to the BER, at an estimated cost of 900 million euros, U 8 from Wittenau to the Märkische quarter for an estimated 240 million Euro, a new line from Kurt-Schumacher-Platz to the Urban Tech Republic on the current Tegel airport: € 405 million and the U 7 of Spandau to the military road-North: 450 million Euro.

Senate wants to decide on prolongation of the contract with BVG

Parallel to the local transport plan, the Senate will decide on Tuesday the extension of the traffic contract with the BVG until 2035. The requirements set out in the local transport plan should be included in said business Senator, Ramona Pop (Green), so that future governments would be bound to the Plan.

The buses of the LPP should not be up to 2035 wheelchair access (with a retractable ramp is sufficient), in addition to be used until 2030 only electric-powered buses. Alone, for the purchase of these buses and charging infrastructure, the Senate plans to spend up to 2035 of around 1.4 billion euros. For the acceleration of the bus traffic and barrier-free stop 380 million Euro are provided.

Comparatively clear overview of the projects at the S-Bahn. Here are to be purchased for three billion euros 602 new district trains. The construction of the S-21 is estimated at 900 million euros, with the third phase of construction of the Yorckstraße to Potsdamer Platz until after 2035. For the construction of the S-train stations Kamenzer Damm (S 2) and perleberger Straße (S 21) are each provided ten million euros.

More lines in the Ten-minutes-clock

Also within the existing network, the offer should be improved. Additional lines to get a Ten-minute cycle on the U-Bahn lines 2,5,6 and 8 to be implemented by 2023 3.3 minutes. Where a normal bus service is not worthwhile, should Rufbusse be introduced. Overloaded bus routes should, wherever possible, be by the tram routes replaced.

the Stated objective of the local transport plan red-Red-Green is the car in traffic to push back and to make transport more safer, healthier and more climate-friendly. “Hundreds of millions of passengers will benefit from it,” said Günther. And who is so far driven with the car, despite the traffic jams, lack of Parking, and a higher risk of accident – “be able to say: I don’t need a car.”
