Since the weekend, Venezuela’s interim President Juan Guaidó is no longer in the country. And it is unclear whether and when he may return: on Friday, he had crossed the border to Colombia – the ban of the socialist Maduro government.

In Cúcuta led the 35-Year-old on Saturday, the Transport of the relief goods in the direction of border crossings and failed. The action ended in Chaos and violence, a truck with relief supplies went up in flames. Hundreds of people were injured in clashes with Venezuelan security forces and paramilitaries. At the Venezuelan-Brazilian border, there were even Dead. Guaidó has given the world the proof: The Maduro government is ready to do anything to prevent much-needed help.

conflict in order to aid

“This is a very difficult Moment for our country. Yesterday, we have seen an unprecedented crime. Relief goods sent to other countries, us and Colombia, for us, has preserved, were burned. Venezuelan Volunteers wanted to bring the help in our country. Today they have pushed out again – but in vain. A day in the severe crisis that could be mitigated”, starts for Venezuela so Guaidó in the Colombian capital, Bogotá, where he meets today with the heads of state of the Lima group and U.S. Deputy Mike Pence. There Guaidó was received with a red carpet and military honor. In the Venezuelan capital of Caracas, Nicolas Maduro called him the “puppet of Donald Trump” and a “coup”.

While the dramatic events at the border crossings, the Maduro, celebrated shortly before the beginning of the aid transports had to close, the socialist government with their supporters, danced Maduro with his wife on the stage and announced later, the diplomatic relations with the neighbors of Colombia.

power struggle reaches new heights

The power struggle has reached a new climax: The Venezuelan Analyst Vicente Leon calls it a war. It Guaido neither has managed to bring humanitarian aid into the country, to split the military, does not mean defeat in this war.

“Who moves in a battle, do not need to win the war. It comes, to weaken the opponent. In this war there will be many battles. In the battle of humanitarian aid, the Opposition has forced the government this weekend, attacking aid deliveries and to block and, thus, their international image is deteriorating,” says León. “We have seen a government that oppresses and uses violence. Much more important is the image that has our impoverished population now is: Although she is suffering, the government of the aid, which the people so urgently need.”

The shift of the responsibility clearly on the side of the Maduro government. Also, if the extreme supply crisis because of the expanded US-is likely to reinforce sanctions in the coming weeks, will give the population the fault of Maduro, says León. This will increase the pressure in the country.

in this respect, Guaidó has won in the dispute over humanitarian aid more than the Maduro government. The losers are the people who are suffering from the crisis.
