A training ride along with Tour de France winner Geraint Thomas on Tenerife, has left Team Sky sprinter and leadout man Ben Swift in the intensive care unit.
On a descent hit the Swift is a rock and crashed violently. It resulted in a blown up spleen, which required an intervention to stop the bleeding.
There was made an intervention on Wednesday afternoon in order to minimize the risk that the bleeding can start again, sounds it in the Sky team’s website.
Amazingly enough broke the fast brite not do anything about the crash, but the body and the head have got many knocks and abrasions.
Thanks for the well wishes. I am still in intensive care at the moment. But hopefully move onto a normal ward tomorrow. They have stopped the bleed in the spleen. But just need to keep monitoring it. Along with that I have facial wounds and road rash.

Holdlæge Inigo Sarriegui says:
– Fortunately, he lost not consciousness and could remember the accident afterwards.
– We continue to monitor him for the next days, but already 24 hours after the crash, he had something better.
Ben Swift was number five for the WORLD cup in linjeløbet in 2017 and has twice finished on the podium in the classic Milan-Sanremo.
From 2010 to 2016, he drove for the Cloud, but the past two years he has been on contract with the UAE Emirates. Here damage, however, destroyed the hope of getting more opportunities to run its own chance.
From the new year he has again been back in the barn at the british large groups.
