The u.s. børsmyndigheder, SEC, is investigating Danske Bank for possible money-laundering in the bank’s Estonian branch, inform the bank in a company announcement.

the Bank announces that it is cooperating with the SEC. On top of the news fall Danske Bank’s shares by approximately four percent.

Previously, the u.s. department of justice launched an investigation into the bank’s criminal liability in relation to the case of possible money laundering in Danske Bank’s branch in Estonia.

Thus becomes the SEC, which is an acronym for the US Securities and Exchange Commission, the other u.s. authority, that goes into the case.

– We have no information about when the doj and SEC’s investigations to be completed, or what the outcome of the investigations will be, says Danske Bank’s interim director, Jesper Nielsen.

– We continue to work with the authorities to ascertain the progress of the case.

It is the second time in a week that Danske Bank must explain to the foreign authorities ‘ action in case of possible money laundering in the bank’s Estonian branch.

Earlier in the week got the Danske Bank marching orders from the Estonian financial supervision authority, which asked the bank to leave the country earlier than planned.

the Authorities ‘ attention is an offshoot of the transactions in the bank’s Estonian branch from 2007 to 2015.

According to his own report, Danske Bank being used for money laundering of up to 200 billion euros – about 1500 billion dollars – through its Estonian branch.

the Branch let from 2007 to 2015 the large amounts of money flow through themselves from persons and companies from the former Soviet union. It happened largely outside the control and, in cooperation with the employees in the branch.

the Bank’s own report concludes that there had been significant errors. The bank’s study found, however, that it had broken the law.

the Report concluded that there definitely had been money laundering, but that it was a strong suspicion.

the Case has more than halved the bank’s market value. As a direct result of the case, Thomas the Castle left the post of director. As Ole Andersen left his seat as chairman of the board of directors.

Authorities in several countries have started investigations of the case. In addition to the UNITED states investigations are underway in Denmark, the Uk and France.
