Film France, dueling with lightsabers, or lichtzwaarden, recognized as an official sport. The association with the ‘Star Wars’movies need young people to encourage regular physical activity, says the French fencing federation.
to Fight with a lightsaber, it speaks to the imagination. The current replicas on the market, look like the swords that the Jedi in ‘Star Wars’, and they also sound the same. The only difference: you can nobody cutting. Serge Aubailly, secretary-general of the French fencing federation, notes that many young people are intrigued by the battles in the “Star Wars”. “Films like ‘Zorro’ and ‘Robin Hood’ have always had a big impact on our federation and its growth,” he says. “Lightsaber movies have the same impact. Young people want to try it sometime.”
The organization wanted to want to that rising demand. “The young people of today have an important health problem. They do not do more sports and exercise only their thumbs,” says Aubailly. “That is why we try to bridge the gap between our discipline and the modern technologies, so as to participate in a sport feels natural.” The duel with lichtzwaarden recognised as an official sport, so it was the logical next step.
